SkillFlix™is a video training platform that hones the skills of parents, educators, and healthcare workers. The site features sequences of short videos that model multiple facets of skills (Microskills™) searchable by topics, skills, or keywords.
SkillFlix for Parents offers a subscription-based video library for parents of 12-18 year-olds with mild Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). This collection of 77 videos (approx. 100 minutes of watching time) helps parents improve their communication skills when talking to their teens about sexual health and healthy relationships, ultimately resulting in better health, education, and life outcomes for their teens with IDD. Parents are shown how to assess their child’s readiness for discussing different topics, what to do if posed with difficult questions, how to share their values and behavioral expectations, and how to teach about consent and setting boundaries. Featured topics include talking about masturbation, puberty, sexting, porn, sexual orientation, healthy relationship skills, and many more.
